Stained Glass Women Portrait ‘Lily’ by Laura Kriefman
This stained glass women portrait features ‘Lily’ an ‘amazing life model’ that Laura met in a life drawing class in Spring 2024.
Made with Unique Uroboros glass with vitreous painting.
Artist Statement:
I met Lily, an amazing life model, in a class this spring-and I sketched her freely and brightly. It was a joy, and I realised that the blues and pinks I had used on the page needed to live in glass. I literally walked into my studio the next day and started cutting a piece of glass I had just been gifted using my sketch as the cartoon. I never thought I would be cutting a piece of glass to gently cup an underthigh and vulva. I enjoyed learning about the stunning colours of the vintageUroborosglass. I loved finding a way of capturing my calligraphy style-honouring this artwork’s roots as a life drawing sketch and the movement in my drawing style. I am proud of the feeling of voluptuous and curvaceousness in this 2d glass piece.
