Neon Stained Glass ‘Fly Over’ by Laura Kriefman

This neon stained glass has a hint of Art Deco as the steep pillars of the flyover draw away into the distance.

A colourful addition to your wall, white shelf or window.

Artist’s Statement

So, Easter Sunday needed a customary walk so that a Cadbury’s Creme Egg could be consumed somewhere windy, as is a Kriefman tradition. This year my Partner and I headed along the River Teign, up amongst the tidal reed beds, and under the ever-so-glamourous A380. We both absolutely loved the combination of reed beds, and river and tree line and fabulous grand pillars holding up the Fly Over. My partner snapped an image and it’s been playing on my mind for a month or so: I couldn’t resist exploring how those geometric forms might look in glass but I wanted to move away from the grey concrete, tan reeds and oaken tones of an April Morning. My Partner loves the artwork by @mysteriousburobbu and his neon beasts are so exciting in their colour combinations. Neon Flyover is an exploration of what neon clashes and geometric forms could look like in glass with a pop of gold! Neon Flyover has taken about 25 hours so far-from design concept to getting it fully leaded, soldered and cemented and getting the first light through it!

Neon Stained Glass – Artist

Laura Kriefman artist works primarily with painted and lead light and painted glass in her work, which ranges from large architectural works to small works of art.

From her studio in Dawlish, Devon Laura either works on her own pieces or on glass art commissions which can be done on-site or remotely.

Despite its two-dimensional nature, Kriefman loves the medium of stained glass and utilises it to its most creative.

Lead light stained glass enables her to bring both her love of movement and colour to her works through the precisely cut compositions of glass pieces.

Stained glass is an inherently colourful medium that allows the artist to tell their story in a multitude of ways, with vibrancy, depth and great fluidity.

In 2024, Kriefman won the Amanda Moriarty Memorial Award and was also accepted into the Green Hill Arts Biennale

Before she was Laura Kriefman glass artist, Laura was an acclaimed dance choreographer, with many awards under her belt. For over 20 years she created and delivered projects worldwide.
