Sculptures For Sale ‘Earth’ by Sigi Hill
We have new sculptures for sale by Sigi Hill. This one, entitled ‘Earth’ is a prosaic piece of glass artistry, set inside a hand-forged iron stand.
Part of a trio of Genesis pieces – Earth, Sea (Click HERE for Sea) and Sky (Sold) – this sculpture has both modern and vintage qualities, enabling it to work in a variety of spaces.
Made by performing multiple firings onto a clear glass disc and the layering of pre-fired frit balls to provide the depth and intensity of the piece.
Richly textured and deeply ingrained colouration give the sculptural disc an enlivening stance that pervades the whole space.
Works well set against a light background or with backlighting to show the sculptural work off at its very best.
Sculptures For Sale Artist
In 2005 after a 17-year career in International Banking, Sigi Hill decided it was time to explore a creative path. It was during a foundation course in Art and Design at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, that her interest in the glass first sparked. She went to study at the University of Creative Arts (UCA) in Farnham. Here she obtained a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Three-Dimensional Design specialising in Glass.
Sigi works from her studio in Hampshire, designing and making her inspired designs. Her work uses glass frit which gives her the flexibility to blend colours without losing their definition. The resulting part is fused, and crystalline with smooth textures which are complex and intriguing. Sigi enjoys being able to create simple yet measured shapes which reflect her initial inspiration. Sigi enjoys creating her own visions of nature but also delights in working to a brief.
At her Hampshire studio, Sigi runs workshops and tutorials for glass. She also offers drawing and mark-making at various venues in the UK.
Sigi is a member of The Society of Designer Craftsman (LSDC), The Surrey Sculpture Society, The Hampshire and Berkshire Guild of Craftsman and the Contemporary Glass Society. She has exhibited in numerous venues across the UK.
