Sculpture Glass Art Artist
Peter Newsome Ph D, FRSS left a career in scientific research to become a professional sculptor. 28 years ago he became fascinated by the unique beauty of glass and the challenge to work with such a medium.
Not following the traditional techniques of a glassblower. Peter uses glass cutting skills which he has developed over the years coupled with his own adaptation of glass engineering techniques.
Peter’s work is of an abstract nature, a celebration of light and form. He seeks to celebrate the mysteries of nature and the mind. He takes great satisfaction in the changing play of light, creating a relationship between the sculpture and the movement of the viewer.
Peter lives and works from his studio at his home in Cheam, Surrey. He has exhibited across the UK as well as in New York. Peter has also made an appearance on the Discovery Channel for Europe. He has been commissioned by British Gas for a presentation given by HRH Princess Anne. Various corporate clients such as The London Hilton, Canary Wharf, Royal Caribbean Line and Guardian Newspapers have all seeked commissions. Peter Gabriel, Greg Dyke, and private collectors in three continents all have Peter’s work in their collections.
Peter is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and became a Fellow in 2014. In 2010 he was elected RBA.
