Lead Crystal Sculpture ‘Lava Flow’ by Sandra Balmer
Sandra Balmer’s lead crystal sculpture adds a deliciously ‘warm glow’ to any space. Inspired by the movement of lava erupting from volcanic mountains, this piece is as dramatic as it is beautiful.
The circular lead crystal sculpture is held in a handmade metal stand made by Hedge Ironworks. This makes it easy to display on any flat surface. A masterful piece of artwork that will make a mesmerising centrepiece.
The organic shape of the sculpture and the tantalising ‘flow’ of red and yellow glass contrasts beautifully against the geometric metal structure.

Lead Crystal Sculpture Artist
After taking early retirement from her first career in 2010, Sandra successfully studied for a BA in Art & Design (Major Glass) at the Glyndwr University School of Art & Design. Her degree show was exhibited at New Designers in Islington, London in 2016. It was then included as part of a group of selected makers touring the North of England during 2017.
Sandra’s work features a range of skills but she primarily specialises in cast glass. As her work has progressed, Sandra set up a workshop at her home in North Shropshire. From her home studio, she now designs and creates large kiln formed cast sculptures. Sandra is inspired primarily by the landscape around her. Continually looking at new techniques and furthering her research and experimentation she has undertaken masterclasses with highly respected glass artists such as Petr Stacho (Czech Republic), Vladimir Klein (Czech Republic) and Dr. Gerry King (Australia).
In 2020 Sandra has produced her first collection of works entitled Land, Sea and Sky. A collection of unique cast glass sculptures which capture both the colour and movement of the nature around her.
The Boha team welcome Sandra and her contemporary glass sculptures to our gallery. We have no doubt that her outstanding glass art, such as this beautiful sculpture, will prove popular.
