Hand Blown Glass Sculptures ‘Metamorphosis: Home I’ by Imogen Davis
Inspired by ephemeral fauna, these hand blown glass sculptures depict the delicate transformation that occurs during the metamorphosis of butterflies and moths. The two facets provide a window into the process within the shell, drawing your gaze deep within the form.
A delight to behold and touch, these hand blown glass sculptures ask the viewer to reflect on the importance of butterflies and moths to our ecosystem and provide a real talking point.
Available in two different colours, other colours available on request.
Hand Blown Glass Sculptures Artist
Imogen Davis is a talented artist from the UK. She studied 3D Design at Manchester School of Art, where she was immediately seduced by the medium of hot glass. The tactility of objects is a key factor for Imogen, and her pieces beg her audience to touch as well as to admire them.
Imogen began exploring the use of textures within the glass, and soon realised the beauty in the optical effects one can create using different shaping techniques. Contrasting organic form with clean-cut facets soon became the basis of her work, along with the exploration of various colour techniques.
After graduating from university, Imogen exhibited at New Designers 2016 and was proudly featured in the CGS New Graduate Review.
Imogen is honing her skills and developing into an extremely skilled glass practitioner, working at Daedalian Glass Studios and Loco Glass, with plans to open her own public studio in the near future.
In a short period of time, Imogen has already started to make a name for herself as a glass artist. She is eager to keep pushing her ideas further and exploring the different possibilities with the material. Imogen embraces the challenges of working with glass and pushes herself to achieve a high standard and to keep producing new and interesting pieces of decorative sculpture.
