Blue Perfume Bottles ‘Silver Leaf’ by Kalki Mansel
These cobalt blue perfume bottles by Kalki are as vividly clear as a finely cut sapphire. They use deep blue and silver leaf decorations to make fantastic hand-blown perfume bottles. With two polished facets and a clear glass stopper, the bottle stands at 15 cm tall.
The deepest blue of the centre of the bottle gives way to lighter shades of blue on the outside. The choice of blue for this bottle from Kalki shows his passion for science and his need to express his passion through colour.
All hand-blown blue perfume bottles by Kalki are crafted without the use of any mould. Each bottle produced is therefore entirely unique, the silver leaf outer decoration of this bottle working in perfect harmony with the cobalt blue.

Blue Perfume Bottles Artist
Kalki’s relationship with glass started at the tender age of 13 when he came across a glass art studio in Northern Ireland. Moving from the South with his family, he would spend as much time as possible hanging out at the Glass Studio he had stumbled across. Kalki finished his secondary school education, spending as much as possible of his spare time at the studio. America was his destination on completing school, and here he would learn more about his passion by visiting several studios and getting to know their individual artists.
On return from America, Kalki enrolled at Sunderland University to study for a BA honours degree in Glass, Architectural Glass, and Ceramics. His passion for glass had intensified during his time in America, and in 2007 he graduated from Sunderland. 2008 took Kalki to Australia, and on his return, he was to start working for the Jane Charles Studio of Glass in Sunderland as well as the National Glass Centre.
Today, Kalki Mansel Glass continues to produce in Sunderland, for both studios and as a glass blower and practising glass artist. Kalki’s works, like these fabulous blue perfume bottles, are inspired by many fields including science, the natural world, colour, and culture. Molten glass is the perfect material for expressing and capturing his inspirations, Kalki loves to share his fascination with glass with others through his works.
