Kosta Glasbruk was formed in 1742 in Sweden, where wood was plentiful and the Swedish aristocracy had been drawing glass artisans from Germany and Italy since the 1500s to satisfy the needs of the burgeoning upper class.

In the mid-twentieth century, Vicke Lindstrand joined the firm and catapulted it to worldwide fame with bold new directions, female glass designers and an appetite for experimentation.
