Blue Blown Glass Art ‘Metamorphosis: Escape II’ by Imogen Davis
Imogen Davis adds to her fantastic metamorphosis collection. ‘Escape II’ is an inspirational piece of blue blown glass art which celebrates the magnificence of nature. A wonderful interpretation of the moment of transformation to reveal the new butterfly or moth.
This large piece is a blown and hot fused form with one polished facet cutting through both sections. This steel blue blown glass represents the empty shell left behind once the newly formed butterfly has released itself from its chrysalis.
NB All Imogen’s pieces are hand blown and are one-off pieces. A similar piece can be made, on request, in different colours but they will, of course, vary from the original form seen here.
Blown Glass Artist
Imogen Davis is a talented artist from the UK. She studied 3D Design at Manchester School of Art, where she was immediately seduced by the medium of hot glass. The tactility of objects is a key factor for Imogen, and her pieces beg her audience to touch as well as to admire them.
Imogen began exploring the use of textures within the glass. She soon realised the beauty in the optical effects one can create using different shaping techniques. Contrasting organic form with clean-cut facets soon became the basis of her work, along with the exploration of various colour techniques.
After graduating from university, Imogen exhibited at New Designers 2016 and was proudly featured in the CGS New Graduate Review.
Imogen is honing her skills and developing into an extremely skilled glass practitioner. She currently works at Daedalian Glass Studios and Loco Glass, with plans to open her own public studio in the near future.
In a short period of time, Imogen has already started to make a name for herself as a glass artist. She is eager to keep pushing her ideas further and exploring the different possibilities with the material. Imogen embraces the challenges of working with glass. She pushes herself to achieve a high standard. Imogen continues to produce new and interesting pieces of decorative sculpture such as this blue blown glass art.
