Hand Made Glass Bowl ‘Black Galaxy’ By Kalki Mansel

The handmade glass bowl from the Galaxy collection by Kalki is the perfect centrepiece for a table. Adding depth and colour to any room, the black glass of the beautiful hand made glass bowl will shine and shimmer in the sunlight. Yellow, orange, and red chips decorate the bowl beautifully, their array of colours symbolising the colours of the galaxy and the night sky.
Kalki has an exceptional relationship with nature that he expresses beautifully through his glass art. The chips of orange, red, and yellow of the bowl could also be imagined as the flames of an open fire, lapping around the base of the vessel and giving a warmth that rises up to the top of the bowl.
For lovers of dark glass and people with a dark aura of mystery surrounding them, choose from the black galaxy collection by Kalki which also includes scent bottles, vases, and urns. For more bowls please click HERE.
N.B. The images shown are an example of the ones in the series. Each piece is handmade and therefore there will be small variations in colour and pattern. Each one is completely unique and signed by the artist.

Hand Made Glass Bowl Artist

Kalki’s relationship with glass started at the tender age of 13 when he came across a glass art studio in Northern Ireland. Moving from the South with his family, he would spend as much time as possible hanging out at the Glass Studio he had stumbled across. Kalki finished his secondary school education, spending as much as possible of his spare time at the studio. America was his destination for completing school, and here he would learn more about his passion by visiting several studios and getting to know their individual artists.

On return from America, Kalki enrolled at Sunderland University to study for a BA honours degree in Glass, Architectural Glass, and Ceramics. His passion for glass had intensified during his time in America, and in 2007 he graduated from Sunderland. 2008 took Kalki to Australia, and on his return, he was to start working for the Jane Charles Studio of Glass in Sunderland as well as the National Glass Centre.

Today, Kalki continues to work in Sunderland, for both studios and as a glass blower and practising glass artist. Kalki’s works are inspired by many fields including science, the natural world, colour, and culture. Molten glass is the perfect material for expressing and capturing his inspirations, Kalki loves to share his fascination with glass with others through his works.
