It’s all about the sea. Roberta Mason Glass art is strongly influenced by water. She is especially fascinated by the formation of waves, the language of bubbles and the amazing world of strange and wonderful marine creatures.
She hopes that, in the words of Rachel Carson, “The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.”
The creation of Roberta’s work involves using traditional glass techniques, in non-traditional ways, to create unique, sculptural work and installations. She feels that the transparency and movement of hot glass captures a snapshot of life in a way few materials can.
Her journey into art has come via science and technology and she has recently graduated with an MA in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art in London. She is a Selected Maker for Craft and Design Magazine, a Contemporary Glass Society member, and a member of the Scottish Glass Society, and Handmade in Britain.
Roberta Mason Glass is gathering admirers across the world. She is a finalist in the Visual Art Open UK & International Emerging Artist Awards 2019, has work in private collections and has exhibited her work internationally. Boha Glass are delighted to be able to showcase some of her work in our online gallery.
