Blue Glass Art by Graeme Hawes
Brilliant blue glass art by esteemed UK glass artist Graeme Hawes. Shades of deep and azure blue and clear glass fuse seamlessly in these fabulous sculptures.
These colourful, contemporary and cuboid sculptures are available in two designs. The perfectly polished outer surface features deep ridged grooves on one side (see right image) or a softly textured surface, like painterly brush strokes (see left image).
N.B. Please note the image shown is an example of this design. Slight variations will occur as every blue glass art is uniquely fashioned just for you. Therefore, no two pieces of Graeme Hawes Glass art are ever the same. Graeme personally signs each piece.
Blue Glass Art Artist
Graeme Hawes is an incredibly talented and experienced glass artist. He works, alongside his wife, Michaela Hawes (a trained potter), from their studio based in the heart of Leicester’s cultural quarter.
Graeme graduated with a BA (Hons) in 3D Design in ceramics and glass from Sunderland University. He then went on to gain an MA in glass design at the Royal College of Art (RCA).
Since completing his MA in 1995, Graeme has enjoyed working as a freelance glassmaker and designer. The movement and fluidity of the material in the making process is essential to the creation of his free hand-blown art glass. This fluidity is a key factor for his inspiration in the final design and form. Graeme enjoys making his own creative designs and also works to client specifications.
Graeme’s beautiful and colourful glass sculptures are highly regarded and sought after. You can find his decorative and unique contemporary art glass in many shops and galleries throughout the UK and internationally.
Furthermore, his work has also been featured in many magazines, including The Guardian weekend supplement, The Sunday Times Style Magazine and Elle Decoration.
In addition to making and designing, Graeme has also had the pleasure of teaching for many years. He is a senior lecturer at the School of Design, De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester. He has also taught as a visiting lecturer at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University and Lancaster Central University.
